Henry Thornton (1760-1815) is featured because he was an early 19th century pioneer in currency and banking theory and because he is the author of the 1,000th book which we have put online at the OLL, An Enquiry into the Nature and Effects of the Paper Credit of Great Britain (1802) with an introduction by the Nobel Prize winning economist Friedrich Hayek (1899-1992), written in 1939.
